Higher
Education:
The United States has
no Federal Ministry of Education or other
centralized authority exercising single national
control over educational institutions. The States
assume varying degrees of control over education. In
general however, institutions of higher education,
such as the Christian Institute for Counselor
Certification, Inc., are permitted to operate with
considerable independence
and autonomy.
Certification Education In Texas:
With the passage of House Bill
2481 in September of 1997, the Texas legislature
gave
the “faith community” an opportunity to acquire a
State recognized Counselor Certification Program
through accreditation from a private sector
religious body. Because of this action,
the American Institute for Christian Education was
birthed. The Christian Institute for Counselor
Certification, Inc. is a non-profit religious
corporation. Because of House Bill 2481,
"Certified Christian Counselors" may now legally
counsel and minister to families with addiction
problems, as well as other nagging issues.
Community Service Groups:
The state of Texas leadership wisely took the
advice of its "Task Force on Faith-Based Community Service
Groups," and urged Christians to privately form a
certification process to monitor the
best training and performance standards possible. We
have taken the leadership of Texas seriously.
Therefore, this is our task at the American Institute for
Christian Education / Christian Institute for
Counselor Certification, Inc. to provide "Excellence
in Christian Counselor Education" --- which is
our MOTTO.
Former
President George W. Bush:
Former President George W. Bush, when he was
Governor of Texas, endorsed the alternative
licensure process when he wrote in his classic book,
A Charge To Keep …. “I realize that many religious
institutions fear involvement with government,
because they fear it will compromise their core
values and spiritual mission. That’s the reason I
support alternative licensing, so effective efforts
aren’t buried or compromised by government
regulations.” Later, when he became President of the
United States of America, this
"philosophy of helps" was endorsed and
established under the Faith-Based Initiative.
Board of
Directors:
In order to insure the quality of biblical education
the Board of Directors of the Christian Institute
for Counselor Certification, Inc, have checks and
balances in place i.e., the “Christian
Accountability Board” that functions as the “watch
dog” for graduates and clients alike. If either
party’s privacy or rights have been violated, the
Board of Directors will investigate both parties.
This gives the Faith-Based Certified Christian Counselor and
his/her clients the sense of security in the
counseling relationship.
Some
Functions of Certification:
* It verifies that a program meets established
standards.
* It assists prospective students in
identifying acceptable
Christian counselor education.
* It assists institutions in determining an
acceptable Code
of Ethics.
* It protects the student and institution
against outside secular
pressure.
* It establishes professional certification for
long term stability
and growth.
State
Law:
"Our training is religious in nature
and not subject to licensure or regulation by the
State of Texas. It provides non-medical treatment
and recovery methods such as prayer, moral guidance,
spiritual counseling, and scriptural study"
Open
Door:
The Faith-Based Certified Christian Counselor has
an open door to counsel people with all forms of
bondage. After all, the only real solution to the
horrible bondage of substance abuse, as well as
other societal dilemmas, is Jesus Christ. He is the
only help hope and
healing we have for a changed heart that
brings about a changed life!
Students
That Minister:
The American Institute for Christian Education has
already provided training to hundreds of students
that minister in the following ways:
(1) Prison Ministry Volunteers
(2) Chaplains
(3) Parole Officers
(4) Probation Officers
(5) Law Enforcement Officers
(6) Emergency Service Personnel
(7) School Counselors
(8) Pastors and Staff
The
Institute has certified Professional Counselors such
as LPC's, LMFT's, and LCDC's. The American Institute
for Christian Education / Christian Institute for
Counselor Certification Inc. "Certification Program"
have given practical resources and tools to our
Faith-Based Christian counselors to go into their own particular
ministry with much more confidence.
The
Faith Community:
The State of Texas has given the "faith community"
an opportunity for ministry likes never before in
Texas. It is absolutely essential for the
Church, the Body of Christ, to step up to the
plate and take advantage of this unprecedented
opportunity. The Faith-Based Christian counselor can now
minister without fear from the state; in fact,
supported by the state. Praise God!
Why

Board

The biblically based curriculum has
been approved by the Board of Directors of the
Institute for Counselor Certification, Inc. as
"Board Certified." This recognition appears on the
Faith-Based Christian Counselor's
CERTIFICATE.
"Board Certified"
recognition brings a dimension of professionalism
and creates accountability to the church, state and
the client. Additionally, "Board Certified" builds
public trust in Faith-Based Christian Counseling
Services offered by the local church --- THE CHRISTIAN
COUNSELING CENTER.
